Coming soon · File shares → Microsoft 365 first · Google, S3, Azure to follow
Approdo is being built to move your data to SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams — with Google Drive, Azure Blob and AWS S3 on the roadmap — and to auto‑fix the permissions, long paths, locked files and orphaned SIDs that make migrations fail.
The problem
Approdo is being built to fix them for you, then migrate.
Years of NTFS sprawl, deny rules and broken inheritance that may not survive the move.
SharePoint rejects them; your deep folders simply don't fit.
In use at copy time, so they can't be read normally.
Ex‑staff and dead groups that break permission mapping and attribution.
What is Approdo?
Approdo is a data‑migration platform from The Cloud Platform Limited, now in build. At launch it will move file servers to SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams, and it is being built to automatically remediate the permissions, long paths, locked files and orphaned identities that cause migrations to fail. Google Drive, Azure Blob, AWS S3, Box and Dropbox are on the roadmap, not at launch. It will be priced for MSPs and small businesses. (Not to be confused with Approyo, a different company — Approdo is a file & content migration tool.)
How it works
The Deckhand, Approdo's agent on your server, scans your shares and returns a readiness report: long paths, illegal names, locked files, permission complexity and orphaned SIDs.
It auto‑fixes: take ownership, standardise permissions, propose shorter names for long paths, VSS‑snapshot locked files and clean deleted SIDs — all logged, with path changes approved by you first.
Approdo moves your files straight from your server to your SharePoint through Microsoft's own upload interfaces, then delta‑syncs and cuts over cleanly. Approdo is in build. What it will carry from your file server is being listed item by item, with what cannot be carried and why. Nothing on that list has yet been proven on a test.

Microsoft's and ShareGate's columns are taken from each vendor's own pages, read on 6 October 2026 (learn.microsoft.com/sharepointmigration, help.sharegate.com, sharegate.com/products/sharegate-migrate and sharegate.com/pricing). ShareGate's price is the starting price its pricing page gives for the Essentials plan, in US dollars; the page offers terms of one, two or three years. Where a cell points you to a vendor's documentation, we make no statement about that row. Approdo's column shows what it is being built to do: none of it has yet been proven on a test, and its prices are indicative.
Safe by design
The Deckhand surveys and remediates in place. File contents never pass through us. To prove what arrived, we will keep a listing of file and folder names, sizes and dates, locked against change and deleted after an agreed period.
Files will go straight from your server to your SharePoint through Microsoft's own upload interfaces.
Every fix and every file is recorded — a full, exportable audit trail for compliance.
Remediation is planned and shown to you first. Nothing happens without your sign‑off.
Our promise
When Approdo launches, the free assessment will show you a dry‑run of every permission, path and locked‑file fix it will make — before a penny changes hands. Upfront pricing. No per‑seat surprises, and anything that can't move is reported before cutover.
Pricing
Indicative pricing — subject to confirmation.

Straight answers
One is in build: Approdo. It will migrate file servers to SharePoint and auto‑fix the permission, long‑path and locked‑file problems that make migrations fail. Indicative pricing: a free assessment, then annual tiers from £1,950/yr. ShareGate's pricing page gives a starting price of US$5,995 for its Essentials plan (read 6 October 2026).
Survey the NTFS permissions, remediate broken inheritance, ownership and orphaned SIDs, then map them to SharePoint during migration. Approdo, which is not yet available, is being built to do the survey and the remediation for you. What can be carried into SharePoint is being listed, not yet proven.
Shorten or flatten the over‑length paths before upload. Approdo's Path Master will find them, propose shorter names and apply the plan you approve, with every change logged — no manual renaming.
Yes, with a snapshot. A file that is open at copy time can't be read normally. When it launches, Approdo will take a VSS snapshot so in‑use files are captured consistently instead of being skipped.
Microsoft describes its SharePoint Migration Tool (SPMT) as a free migration solution. Microsoft's own guide to file‑share migration says that explicit Deny permissions, and files or folders over SharePoint's limits, are not migrated, and that for paths over the limit you should work with your migration vendor to reorganise the folders. Approdo is being built to remediate permissions, long paths, locked files and orphaned SIDs before it migrates.
